Shipment Contents
To get accurate quotes, please take the time to enter accurate details for your shipments. If you are unsure of anything, our team is always happy to help. Contact our support team by opening a live chat or emailing support@freightsimple.com.
If you ship the same commodity often, you should read about our Saved Commodity feature.

Handling Units
Specify the number of and type of handling units that you are shipping. We recommend palletizing or crating your freight when possible to protect it during transit.

Dimensions
Please measure your freight carefully. Correct dimensions are important for getting accurate rates.
Include the pallet when measuring, and pay attention to any overhang. If your freight is irregular, imagine a box surrounding the item, and measure that.
Carriers frequently weigh and measure shipments to confirm the dimensions. If the dimensions are found to be different than stated, you will receive a weight report detailing the difference. Significant differences may result in an additional charge.

Description
Provide an accurate and complete description of your freight. This can help identify prohibited goods earlier - preventing delays, can speed up customs processing, and can help the carrier handle the goods properly.
Your description should not be vague. For example, "Metal" would not make a good description - but "Aluminum Cladding in Boxes" would.
Certain commodities are prohibited. If in doubt, please double-check before booking.
NMFC Code
When you enter an NMFC code, FreightSimple may be able to get better rates from carriers, as they have more certainty of what type of commodity they are shipping.
Our team is always happy to assist you in finding the code, and this conversation generally only takes a few minutes. Let us know if you need assistance.
Stackable
You may be able to get better rates for your shipment if your freight can be stacked with other freight either placed above or below it. Stacking freight can lead to an increased risk of damage.
Also, if you have separate insurance, the insurance policy may require you to mark your freight as Not Stackable, to ensure coverage.
Temperature Handling
Cold winter temperatures can damage certain types of freight. If you require "Protect From Freezing" service, you can specify it here. This may only be available during the winter months, and varies by region.
Dangerous Goods
If you are shipping dangerous or hazardous goods, FreightSimple can help you get the right quotes, correctly fill in documentation, and ensure a smooth pickup.
