Certain commodities require particular temperature handling.

Protection from freezing

In large parts of North America during the winter months, temperatures regularly fall below zero. Even short periods at a temperature that low can damage certain goods.

To protect from this, carriers from mid-Fall to mid-Spring will offer a service called Protection from Freezing. When that is requested, for a small surcharge, a carrier will ensure that your freight is moved and stored on heated trailers, so its temperature never falls below freezing.
