Pickup and delivery reference numbers

You can optionally add a pickup and delivery reference number. We highly recommend adding these if you have them.

What a reference number is

A reference number is any combination of letters and numbers that you assign to a shipment. This reference number could be a purchase order number, a customer’s job number, a sales order number, or a phrase or words that identify the shipment.

Why reference numbers help

These reference numbers are sent to the carrier ahead of pickup and delivery, so the driver knows what they are picking up or delivering.

Many docks are busy places, with many trucks and shipments coming and going. A reference number can help both the driver and the person on the dock know exactly which shipment should go into which truck.
