Public API

FreightSimple provides a comprehensive REST API that lets you integrate freight shipping directly into your applications, systems, and workflows.

What the API does

The FreightSimple Public API gives programmatic access to core FreightSimple functionality:

• Get quotes. Create a shipment draft or start quoting straight away, then read the quotes back.
• Book shipments. Book the quote you pick and receive the bill of lading and pickup package as documents.
• Follow a shipment. Read its status, expected and actual delivery dates, documents and tracking id from the shipment itself, or ask your account manager for a webhook that pushes status changes to you.
• Access invoices. Read the invoices on a shipment and download each one as a PDF.
• Manage saved commodities. Create, list, update, delete and look up the commodities you ship by SKU, so your integration can build quote requests from them.
• Look up reference data. Carriers, dangerous goods (UN numbers, classes, packing groups) and distribution warehouse brands.

There is no address book or separate tracking endpoint: addresses go on each shipment, and tracking status comes back on the shipment.

2. Get your API key

   API access requires authentication. Ask your account manager to set up API access; FreightSimple issues the key once access is approved. Self-service key generation is not available yet.

3. Start building

   Use the API documentation to integrate FreightSimple functionality into your applications.
