Weight Reports & Inspections

When entering details for your shipment, you will be asked to specify the dimensions of your freight. It is very important to enter accurate information.

Carrier terminals they have various devices that can measure the actual weight and dimensions of the shipment.

If the carrier inspects the dimensions of the shipment, the carrier will produce a weight report. FreightSimple automatically receives these and makes them available on your dashboard.

While it is called a weight report, it might actually challenge a number of things

  • The weight of the shipment
  • The number of handling units in the shipment
  • The dimensions of any of the handling units
  • The actual commodity that is being transported (suggesting an NMFC code is incorrect)

If the weight report indicates a significant change, that may affect the price for your shipment, and our team will reach out to you. If you realize that you shipped something different from the details you entered, you can open a live chat or email support@freightsimple.com and they will help you find the best solution.

If you believe the weight report was issued erroneously, then our team can work with you to provide the necessary documentation to reverse the weight report. We may ask for one or more of the supporting documents below:

  • Packing Slip or Invoice (must include a breakdown of the items that were shipped and a description of those items)
  • Manufacturers Specification Sheets (Written info on a piece of paper is not considered a spec sheet)
  • Website that shows how much the product weighs or measures
  • Catalog page listing weights
